Day 1Arrival In Lima

Upon your arrival at the airport of Lima, you will be welcomed by our personnel and taken to your hotel in the district of Miraflores. Free evening in the vibrant capital of Peru.

Day 2City Tour In Lima

Today you will discover the vibrant capital of Peru and its main attractions during a guided tour. You start visiting the Plaza Mayor (the main square) and the cathedral located in the historic centre, where you can find many colonial buildings. Afterwards you leave the historic centre for a trip to the modern districts Miraflores and San Isidro, which are dominated by office blocks, villas, urban parks and promenades on the Pacific coast. After the city tour you return to your hotel. Rest of the day free.

Day 3Lima – Cusco

In the morning you will be taken to the airport to take your flight to Cusco. Upon your arrival, you will be accompanied to your hotel. Free afternoon and evening to explore the historic centre of Cusco on your own.

Day 4City Tour In Cusco + 4 Ruins

Today you will make a guided city tour in Cusco, the former capital of the Inca Empire. You start visiting the cathedral, which is located on the Plaza de Armas, the main square in Cusco. Inside the impressive building you can find many paintings of the Cusco School. Afterwards you go to the church Santo Domingo, where once was located the Temple of the Sun in the Inca period, also known as Qorikancha. Then you leave the historic centre to visit the four Inca ruins in the surroundings of Cusco: Kenko, Tambomachay, Puka Pukara and the stunning fortress Sacsayhuamán. Finally you return to your hotel. Rest of the day free.

Day 5Sacred Valley

In the morning you set out for the Sacred Valley of the Incas. Your first stop is the Inca site of Pisac built on a hill, which is composed of terraces, fountains and the largest necropolis of the region. From this place the Incas controlled and dominated the Sacred Valley. On your way back down you visit the traditional market of Pisac. Then you continue your trip driving along the Urubamba River, while you can enjoy the lovely countryside of the valley. Finally you reach the village Ollantaytambo, where the streets and buildings have remained almost unchanged since the Inca period. There you visit the impressive Inca site built on a slope. In the evening, you take the train to the small town of Aguas Calientes, which is located at the foot of Machu Picchu and where you will spend the night.

* During the train rides Ollantaytambo – Aguas Calientes and Aguas Calientes – Poroy you are not allowed to take a large suitcase with you. The maximum weight of the allowed luggage is 5 kilograms. So please just take a backpack with you and leave the bigger part of your luggage in your hotel in Cusco until your return.

Day 6Machu Picchu

Very early in the morning, you take the bus which brings you up to the most famous and impressive Inca site: Machu Picchu, which means “old summit” in Quechua. Together with your guide you will start to discover the archaeological complex built on top of a ridge and surrounded by precipices: a stunning view that evolves with the progression of the sun. You will roam through the alleys of the citadel, its quarters, squares, royal houses, agricultural zones, paths and observatories. After the guided tour you have the opportunity to visit the Inca bridge and the Sun Gate (“Inti Punku”), situated at 2700 metres. Alternatively, you can also wander about the alleys and squares of Machu Picchu. Finally you return to Aguas Calientes to take the train back to Poroy, from where you will be taken to your hotel in Cusco.

Machu Picchu can only be visited during one of the following time frames:

Either from 06:00 till 12:00 o’clock
Or from 12:00 till 17:30 o’clock

Please note that it is not allowed to visit Machu Picchu without a guide and to bring tripods for cameras or food with you.

Option: Entrance to Huayna Picchu „young summit“ or to the mountain of Machu Picchu (not included)

Day 7Journey To The Rain Forest

After breakfast you go to the airport in Cusco, where you take your flight to the town of Puerto Maldonado, which is located in the midst of the jungle. Upon your arrival and transfer to the office of your lodge, where you can store the luggage that you don´t need in the jungle, you go to the landing stage and start a jungle river cruise on the river Madre de Dios (approx. 1 – 2 hours). Finally you reach the lodge where you will spend the following 3 nights in a bungalow. After checking in and having lunch you go for a walk into the rain forest, while your local guide shows you some tropical plants and trees. During this excursion you also have the opportunity to watch butterflies and, if you are lucky, toucans, macaws and crocodiles. After returning to the lodge you can drink a cocktail at the bar or relax on the river bank while enjoying the sunset.

Day 8Excursion In The Jungle

The second day of the excursion leads you deep into the jungle. During the hike through the luxuriant vegetation of the rain forest you can listen to the noises of the primeval forest and enjoy the diverse wildlife. Finally you reach a small lake in the middle of the jungle and make a boat trip. After returning to the lodge and having lunch you go to Isla Monos (“Monkey Island”), which is inhabited by monkeys and where you can watch different species of apes.

Day 9Cocha Perdida

In the morning you start hiking to Cocha Perdida, which is an eco-system inhabited by numerous species. After reaching this marvellous place you go on a boat trip through the jungle, during which you have the possibility to watch the varied wildlife, such as toucans, turtles and howler monkeys. Afterwards you ascend a platform, from where you have an overwhelming view of the rain forest, which seems to be endless from this spot. In the afternoon you return to the lodge, where you can visit the botanic garden or relax in the pool.

Day 10Last Day In The Rain Forest – Lima – International Flight

After breakfast you leave the lodge and return by boat to Puerto Maldonado, where you collect your luggage in the office of the lodge. Then you take your flight to Lima and afterwards your international flight back home.
